A motorbike full of dogs
While walking around the Old Quarter of Hanoi, I saw a wonderful Vietnamese woman with her motorbike full of dogs. They seemed very happy and got along well with each other.
A speaker with a small stool on the street
One morning in the French Quarter, next to the St. Joseph Cathedral of Hanoi, I visited a small restaurant for breakfast. When parking my bike, I saw this funny speaker with a small stool right next to its owner. Maybe she was afraid someone might steal it?
A dog on the back of a motorbike
It is very normal to see a dog on the back of a motorbike in Hanoi. Most dogs are very pretty and tiny. I took this photo in the Cho Gioi area during rush hour while a lady was buying some veggies to prepare for her family’s dinner.
Old and new
Another photo from the Cho Gioi area with an interesting view of old and new styles. This area has lots of interesting history behind it, including stories from the Vietnam War.

A building with lots of water tanks
A photo from the Cho Gioi area with lots of water tanks. It’s amazing that they have stayed there for such a long time. It seems like Newton’s law does not exist here in Hanoi.
An entire apartment on top of a building.
This apartment seems to lack any supporting factors, yet it still remains standing.
Hanoi Train Street
Hanoi is also famous for the train street, where many tourists come to watch the trains pass by. There are also many coffee shops in the area.
The Smallest House in Hanoi
The Old Quarter of Hanoi is home to a surprising sight – the smallest house. At only 80 cm wide, it stands four floors tall and is owned by a seller of musical instruments.
Cho Gioi is an interesting part of Hanoi that is often unknown to travelers, but it has a rich history to share. Join our not-to-go-alone area to discover one of the most fascinating parts of Hanoi. We are top local experts on Airbnb!
