Frequently Asked Questions

During my trip, when is the best time to take one of your tours?

Regarding Hanoi food tours, we and previous guests recommend booking them at the start of your stay, especially if it’s your first time in Vietnam. During our walking tours, we’ll provide you with lots of information about the places we explore, as well as the surrounding areas. We’ll also share some secret places to visit nearby. Many of our guests go back to the neighborhoods we visit to eat at their favorite tour spot or to discover new places we suggest.

If you already have plans for the start of your trip, make sure to end it in the best way possible and take our tour on your last day. You’ll have the best memories of Hanoi to take away.

I am a solo traveler. Can I join one of your tours if someone else booked?

Of course! Our experiences usually involve mixed groups, and they can be the best option for you. You’ll get to discover Vietnamese cuisine, culture, history, and architecture, while also getting to know locals and other travelers.

Our experiences are three hours long, so there’s plenty of time to appreciate every element of the group and make meaningful connections. Although it’s not one of our goals, we’ve had guests who started out as strangers and ended up becoming friends or meeting up for another walk or dinner in Hanoi.

What languages do you host your tours in?

We only offer tours in English, but we’ll do our best to ensure everyone enjoys the experience.

Can you provide recommendations for what to do in Hanoi after the experience is done?

Yes! We want to excite you with curiosity. We can give you some of the popular and lesser-known spots around the city to discover based on your own interests and preferences.
Our team is knowledgeable about the culture, history, and leisure activities in the city and can provide you with the best advice for your travels. We can even show you some of the hidden gems that only locals don’t know about!

Can your tours and experiences be private? Can you personalize or customize an experience for my family or enterprise?

Yes, we can! All OneTrip with Local tours can be hosted as private groups. If you want to celebrate a special moment with your friends, colleagues, or family members, this is a great way to do it!

We can also customize your private tour to fit your special tastes and food restrictions, but there will always be fun and delicious Vietnamese cuisine included!
From corporate group food tours and team-building events to incentive tours and personal celebrations, wedding anniversaries, and foodie groups, our tours are a combination of interaction, information, fun, and delicious Vietnamese cuisine.

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance, or can I just show up at the meeting point?

We look after our guests, so our experience always involves some planning (forecasting the tastings, calling to arrange our dishes in all the food spots, accommodating food allergies, etc.). Additionally, our food tours usually sell out, so we don’t accept walk-ins.

Can I pay with cash? Do you accept USD, EUR, or VND?

Yes, if you cannot pay online, you can pay us in cash when you arrive at the meeting point. USD, EUR, and VND are all accepted at the rate from Google or a money exchange website.

In what conditions will your tours be canceled due to bad weather?

Sometimes it rains, the wind blows, and even typhoons hit Hanoi, Vietnam. But since 2018, when we started our Hanoi food tours, we’ve never canceled one because of bad weather!
Rain and wind won’t keep us from discovering Vietnamese food and culture. What could be better than having a bowl of traditional noodles on a cool day with friends?
Before you come, check the weather and dress accordingly. If it’s raining, the tasting will be indoors, but you’ll need an umbrella when we walk from place to place.

Do you host walking food tours when it’s very hot in Hanoi?

In Hanoi, we can easily reach temperatures of more than 40ºC (104ºF) in July and August, which can make walking in the city unpleasant for some. To overcome this situation we also host sunset and nightfall food tours starting at 18h (6 PM) for guests who wish to avoid hot temperatures or to have a different experience that combines, day and night.
Plus this will give us the opportunity to provide you with some great local tips on what to do in Hanoi to beat the heat, namely our Hanoi Museum tour.

What is your cancellation policy?

Tours are fully refundable up to one week before the scheduled departure date. Refunds are 50% if canceled one day in advance, and no refunds are available for cancellations made less than one day before the tour. No-shows are also not eligible for refunds. Our activities run regardless of weather conditions.
