Inside the Onetrip Guide Discovery Program: From Hosts to Guests
What happens when the storytellers become the listeners? When the guides become the guests? At Onetrip with local, we believe that to share the soul of a country, one must never stop exploring it. That’s the simple, powerful idea behind our Guide Discovery Program, an initiative where our local hosts are sponsored to travel across Vietnam every summer, turning the tables and experiencing the country from a new perspective.
This program is our commitment to lifelong learning. By exploring both famous destinations and hidden gems, our hosts deepen their own knowledge, connect with new stories, and return with a renewed passion for the history, culture, and beauty of Vietnam. After their journeys, they often say they appreciate their country even more and are more excited than ever to share these authentic experiences with our guests.
A Journey Through Vietnam: Our Guides’ Adventures
The past year has been filled with incredible journeys of discovery for our team:
2024
- Kien in Ho Chi Minh City: Kien ventured to the bustling southern metropolis to delve into modern history with a moving visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels and to explore the city’s vibrant, world-class coffee culture.
- Mina’s Culinary Quest: Following Kien, Mina also traveled to Ho Chi Minh City, but with a different mission: to immerse herself in the incredible food scene and learn the secrets behind the flavors of the South.
2025
- Yen in Ha Giang: Our host Yen journeyed to the majestic northern province of Ha Giang to connect with local communities. She learned about the intricate, 100% handmade process of linen weaving in Lung Tam and experienced the nostalgic atmosphere of traditional H’mong-style rammed-earth homes.
- Kien in Central Vietnam: Kien traveled to the historic heart of Vietnam, exploring Hue and Nghe An. His mission was to deepen his understanding of the Vietnam War and, of course, to sample the regional cuisine—because as we all know, the food in Hue is the best!
- Mina’s Upcoming Trip: The journey doesn’t stop! This month, Mina is about to pack her bags for her next adventure to Tay Ninh, and we can’t wait to see what she discovers.
Growing Our Community, Together
Through this program, our network of passionate local hosts is constantly expanding. We believe in collaboration over competition and welcome other hosts from across the country to connect with us, discuss the tourism industry in Vietnam, and share our collective knowledge. By learning from each other, we can all contribute to a more authentic and sustainable travel culture.

This program is a direct reflection of our company’s commitment to our three pillars.

- For our Guests: We ensure they receive the most authentic, insightful, and memorable experiences possible. This dedication is reflected in the feedback from our community. As of July 2025, we are humbled to have earned an average rating of 4.92/5.00 on Airbnb, 5/5 stars on TripAdvisor, and an impressive 120 five-star reviews on Google Maps. Of course, we are not satisfied and will continue working hard to improve the guest experience.
- For our Community: We believe in giving back. We are proud to donate monthly to two incredible NGOs: the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) and the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation. This July, we are also proudly organizing a charity food tour. Looking ahead, we are planning to run “free of charge” tours for international exchange students from Hanoi University of Science and Technology to share Vietnamese culture with the world.
The Guide Discovery Program is more than just a series of trips; it’s the heartbeat of Onetrip with local. It’s how we ensure every tour is not just a journey through a place, but a genuine connection to its people and its stories.
