Recently, a lovely guest left us a review in German that truly touched us:
„Eine tolle Tour! Man kriegt eine große Auswahl an veganen Speisen und Trang, mein Guide, steckt viel Herzblut in diese Tour.“
(A great tour! You get a wide variety of vegan dishes, and Trang, my guide, puts a lot of heart and soul into this tour.)
One word stood out: Herzblut — literally “heart’s blood.” In German, this means someone gives their full passion, energy, and love to what they do.

It reminded us of the Vietnamese word tâm huyết, and the Chinese 心血 (xīn xuè).
All three describe something more than just effort — they capture a person’s devotion, sincerity, and soul.
This connection between languages is a beautiful reminder: even from different corners of the world, we all understand and value true passion — whether it’s cooking a meal, telling a story, or welcoming someone to your hometown.

At our company in Hanoi, we try to bring exactly that into every experience. Our vegan food tours aren’t just about plant-based dishes — they’re about the people behind them:
- the auntie who wakes up at 6 AM to cook and makes “banh ran”
- the “veggies street” that have been there for many years to sell fresh veggies
- the small and hidden temple, and many more stories
And guides like Trang, who shares not only where to eat, but also what these foods mean — to her, to her family, to the city’s past and future.

So next time you travel, look for the Herzblut — the tâm huyết — in the people you meet.
It’s the most unforgettable ingredient of any journey.
